pas de dirt

Pas De Dirt

Bobcats beep on a Sunday in Spring with the National Building Museum as backdrop. In Pas de Dirt, they twirl through parts of Swan Lake with dancers from the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and Bowen McCauley Dance and bring dance outdoors as one part of Street Scenes, DC, a series of public art installations, filmed in Noise and Mess.

Noise and Mess

If machines dance Swan Lake at the National Building Museum and trees grow wishes at the Hirshhorn Museum, then certainly dirt can make lace on 14th Street, trucks ferry poems and paintings through Washington DC’s legendary traffic and the Potomac float silent messages into the night about war’s dilemmas and our need for Nature. These pearls of whimsy have been strung together in a series of public art events known as Street Scenes DC. Noise and Mess, the film, illustrates each scene and how artists work.

SAYARI

"SAYARI's" hosts and narrators are children who explore the planet ; they sleep by the banks of the Amazon, camp in the African bush, and herd goats in Corsica, meeting new people and discovering new worlds. The kids, aged 8 to 12, live in nature, learn about animals and plants and discover the things that kids want to know about other kids. On their trips, kids see how Maasai tribesmen build houses, they cook with Amazonian Indians, visit an opera house in the jungle and catch a stage of the Tour de France. They learn to surf and fish in the sea with basic gear. They also learn to live without running water or electricity. The hosts and their audience soak up new places, ideas and cultures in the most fun way possible: by seeing and doing. SAYARI, a series of 30 minute shows, is education at its most entertaining.
